لقد کان "معظم الخلفاء يحبون الشعر ويقربون الشعراء، وبعضهم تعلموا العروض ونظموا الشعر، ولهم أبيات مشهورة، وکان الشعراء "يتقربون إلى الخلفاء والأمراء بالمديح، وقد يرتکبون أقبح الأکاذيب"⁽¹⁾، وهو نسق مهيمن ومؤثر في نفسية المتلقي، يرسخ للأنا العليا، ويحمل منتجًا إبداعيًا بکل حمولاته، ويسعى إلى إظهار الصورة البراقة للخليفة وتحطيم أي صورة للآخر المعارض أو مهمش بوساطة اللغة الجمالية التي تمتلک القدرة على تمرير ما تحت العباءة الجمالية المدحية.
