الحمد لله الذي وفقني لهذا، وأمدني من العون ما مکنني من إنجاز هذا العمل المتواضع، الذي أضعه بين يدي القاريء الکريم، راجياً من المولى تبارک وتعالى أن يعيننا جميعاً على الاستفادة منه، وذلک بتقبل النصائح والتوجيهات، واستقبال الانتقادات، والتصويبات، بقلوب شجاعة، وعقول نيرة، ونفوس على الحق صابرة وفي سبيله ماضية، ومن أجله مضحية , فما أرجوه من قارىء هذا البحث هو أن يدلني على الخطأ إن اکتشفه، ويبصرني على العيب إذا لمحه، ويوجهني إلى الصواب إذا رأني ملت عنه، وأخذت مسلکاً غيره، وحدت عن طريق الحق وتنکبت عن العلم الذي ينفع الأمة، ويسدد خطاها، ويعينها على استعادة عافيتها، حتى تعود لأداء دورها في العبادة، والإعمار، والإنقاذ، والتعارف کما أمر المولى تبارک وتعالى.
تناول هذا البحث علم مقارنة الاديان والتعريف به , واسباب نشوئه ومراحل وتطوره عبر التأريخ , وَمَن هم الباحثين والکتاب الذين کتبوا فيه , کما تناول هذا البحث تعريف الدين عند بعض الکتَّاب والباحثين لما له من صلة مباشرة بموضوع البحث., کما وسلط الضوء على طبيعة هذا العلم ومناهجه , وتناول مفهومبين الدين وبين الفرق بين الدين الوضعي والالهي.
